setting up your new website (part 1)

Our online tools give you control of your website and allow you to set up website domains and import in website domains from other service providers. We do understand that this is not as straightforward as it seems for everybody so if you are finding it difficult please give us a call on 01702 558001 and we will personally guide you through the process.

From the top menu, select 'hosting packages' and the select 'web and email hosting' from the drop down menu.

You are now taken to the detail screen on our web and email hosting packages. Here you can get more info on our packages. All the package levels are currently free for the first year. Click 'order now'.

The first thing to do is select your new domain name and the domain suffix you would like. The common ones are .co.uk and .com - we recommend selecting 'all' as you will then be given as wide a choice as possible. Click 'search'. In this screen you can also enter domains you want to import from other service providers.

Now select the domains you would like. Some people like to order a .co.uk and .com domain as these are currently the most common. This stops there be an immediate competitor for your domain in the future. Note that some domain types you can select over multiple years. A domain over a longer period means you have to renew it less regularly (you will get notified in advance before it expires for you to renew it in good time) and there is also a small google weighting on domains with longer ownership so this is worth considering. When you have chosen click 'add domains to basket' or select 'search' if you would like to add othere domains or search again.

Now select the hosting package you would like. Go to here to open details on our hosting packages in a new window. Click 'add to basket' once you have selected.

You can now choose and add-ons you would like such as domain anti-virus scanning and domain privacy. Domain privacy keeps your email, address and phone number private in a whois lookup. If you do not want to take any add-ons, select 'no thank you'.

You are now ready to continue to checkout. Double-check you have everything you want and click 'continue to checkout'

If you are not already registered enter your email address and select 'no, continue to checkout'. Registering is important as it will allow you to come back and manage your domains in the future.

Now enter your details and click 'register now'.

Now enter the details for your domain registration. These are important as they detail the contact details for your domain. Click 'next'.

Nearly there now. Check the details again and click 'complete order'.

You will now be taken through to paypal for payment. You do not need a paypal account to pay as you can select the option to use a credit or debit card by clicking 'continue' instead of logging in.

Once you have completed payment you will be taken back to the Leonmedia site. Clicking 'customer centre' takes you through to the control panel.

This is the control panel screen. Within this screen you can manage your existing domain and add new domains as well as managing all the functions of your account. You will receive an email with details of your webhosting account and a separate login to take you through setting up your website.
