setting up your new website (part 2)

K2_WRITTEN_BY_MALE  administrator

This is the 2nd part of our 'new website' tutorial and demonstrates how easy it is to get your website up and running using our free 'web builder' tool.

There are loads of different templates and we are going to pick a nice simple one to show you how it works. We are then going to set up a couple of pages - a home page and a 'contact us' page with a form for end users to send you enquiries.

In this 2 part tutorial we take you through setting up your domain and account (see part 1) and in this part we show you how easy it is to get your first website up and running.

Firstly, login to your master control panel on our site or go direct to the control panel for your domain using 'the your control panel' menu option (you can go straight to step 3 if this is the case). Click on manage hosting.

You can now see your web hosting accounts. We are going to click on leonmediadev.co.uk and it will take us into our control panel for this domain.

This is where all the software is based that you can use on your site as well as all your ftp, mail management and analytical gumpf. Lets just click on 'web builder' in the top row of icons.

This takes you into the web builder screen. Click 'business' (as we are doing a site for our yoga class) and then click 'next'

You can now select the template you want to use and select a color scheme. We are going to select 'beauty & health' as it is a nice simple template. The color schemes are pretty garish but that doesn't matter as we can change the principle colours later.

Now enter some company information. You get the option to put in some keywords and a site description. These will not be visible to you on your site but are seen by the search engines so take some time to give them some thought as they are important. We are not uploading a logo here but if you do have one you can upload it for it to be shown on your new site. Click 'next'.

Now we are going to add the first page. We are just going to add a 'generic page' so select it and click 'next'.

In the next section you can edit the text on your page. You can select number of columns, change the page title and add/edit new paragraphs. As we are keeping it simple we are just using the default options so click 'add' under 'edit paragraphs' so we can add some text.

We are going to put in some straight text here. If you wish you can add an image or 'launch full screen rich editor' so you can edit the text similar to how you would in word by changing styles etc. Click 'next'.

You can now see what the page is going to look like. Its looking a bit garish so lets toning it down a bit by changing some colours. Click 'settings' at the top on the right.

The settings page allows you to change fonts and colours on the page. Each page has its own settings so you need to do this for every page to make the site consistent. Click 'next'.

It is looking a bit tidier now. We are not going to change the images as this is an example but on all the templates you can edit and change the images to pictures relevant to you.Now lets add a contact us page - click 'add a page' from the top.

Scroll down and select 'contact page' and click 'next'.

In here you need to add in all your details. The email address is important as this is the email your enquiries will go to. Putting in a 'from' address such as This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it is also useful.

There are more options on this page at the bottom so that you can add a map etc. As before we are keeping it simple so we will just click 'next' when complete.

Now you can see the 'contact us' page has been built. Now click 'publish site' on the top left and your site is put live.

It is easy that. We have kept it really simple in this example without adding extra images or a logo but you can see how a website can quickly be built up.

Using our website builder tool there are masses of templates to choose from and you can go back using the tool and change it again and again for no extra cost. We hope you found this useful and it has inspired you to take the first steps to a new website. Feel free to drop us a line using our contact form or call us on 01702 558001 and we will answer any questions you have.
